OREANDA-NEWS. November 19, 2012. The left hand tunnel between Vykhino and Lermontovsky Prospekt Subway Stations has been connected in Moscow. The work that was done using Herrenknecht-736 Tunnel Boring Machine was started in June 2012. The tunnel is 1,780-meter long and runs at an average depth of 15 meters. The average tunneling speed was 400 meters per month.

The tunnel boring machine will be dismantled and relocated to Zhulebino Station construction site where tunneling will begin toward Kotelniki Station. The right hand Vykhino - Lermontovsky Prospekt interstation tunnel, which is 1,573.7-meter long, will be driven using Robbins EPB 2015-371 Tunnel Boring Machine. The machine will start tunneling from Lermontovsky Prospekt Station at the end of November. An open railway section will lead to the tunnels from Vykhino ground-level station, and the tracks will then run underground, into the tunnels.

Lermontovsky Prospekt Station is being built as part of the project of Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya subway line extension to Zhulebino Moscow suburb. The implementation of the project will decongest Vykhino transfer node as well as Lermontovsky and Ryazansky avenues by closing down some ground transportation itineraries.
