A few days ago, steel of the highest strength for automobile body - the 1500MPa hot-forming automobile steel, independently researched and developed by WISCO has been successfully produced in the Cold Rolling General Plant of WISCO. And the product has been hot stamped into automobile parts, whose mechanical property, welding process property and all the other performance indexes have achieved the advanced level of the similar products worldwide, reported the press-centre of WISCO.  

The automobile hot orming steel is superior to the normal high-strength steel as the hot forming technology not only meets the requirement of light weight of automobile, but also settles down the problems of large deformation resistance and serious spring back in the process of cold stamping. The automobile hot-forming steel has become the ideal choice of manufacturing high-strength automobile parts.

Hot-forming parts are mainly used in the manufacturing of safety parts and structures of vehicle body. Its superhigh strength and good toughness could avoid a severe cab deformation and assure the drivers’ safety in case of an accident during driving. Hot stamping technology has been under rigorous blockade on techniques and monopoly status because of the excellent performance and huge market potential of hot forming steel and the parts made of it.

It is said that the successfully research and manufacture of 1500MPa products lay the foundation for hot-stamping technology and products system which are innovated by WISCO independently. It will not only guide the automobile industry to change and upgrade the material of vehicle body, but also change the situation that this product has been depended on import and break down the long-term monopoly positions of some foreign enterprises, which will facilitate WISCO to win both economic and social benefits.
