OREANDA-NEWS. November 23, 2012. Philanthropy Leaders-2012 competition, the company was awarded in the three nominations. The contest is implemented by the Vedomosti leading business newspaper, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the nonprofit partnership of grant-making organisations Donor’s Forum, reported the press-centre of Sakhalin Energy.

The main award in the nomination “The best programme promoting the development of philanthropy in Russia” was granted to our “Hurry up for good deeds” programme supporting the charity initiatives of the employees (the nomination of the Commission of Russia’s Public Chamber).

The programme supporting charitable initiatives of Sakhalin Energy employees was implemented in the company in 2003. It was originally meant to award grants on a competitive basis. But with the years the programme has been revised and updated, so that today it engages both volunteers who are willing to initiate and implement a project, and those who have only gone so far as to participate in charitable events. The new approach now gives an opportunity of a one-time involvement in an event organised by someone else, or one can organise or initiate a social project. The “Hurry up for good deeds” is the vital part of the company’s corporate culture and social policy.

The winning in this nomination is the merit of the company’s staff, of everyone who participates in social and charity projects, volunteers in Sakhalin Energy campaigns and programmes.

Another award of the company - the second place in the nomination “The best programme revealing the corporate philanthropy policy and social investment principles of a company” given to Korsakov Sustainable Development Partnership Council (the nomination of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs).

All in all, Sakhalin Energy social projects in 2012 took the fourth place in the nationwide ranking of corporate philanthropy leaders and received a special prize in the nomination “For the consistency”. And this is not by chance – the company has been taking leading positions in the Corporate Philanthropy Leaders-2012 competition for several years. The success is the clear evidence of the company’s responsibility and active participation in the field of sustainable development, social activities and charity.
