OREANDA-NEWS. November 23, 2012. Belarus introduces new excise rates for all products subject to excise taxation in 2013, including tobacco and tobacco products, in light of the new edition of the Tax Code. The rates will grow by 50-100%, starting January 1, 2013.

Excise rates for cigarettes are set for six-month periods.

Excise rates for filter-tipped cigarettes (per 1,000 units), price group 1 (up 110%):

priced up to 250,000 (USD 29.3)– 60,200 rubles in H1, 2013; priced up to Br325,000 (USD 38.1) – Br100,400 (USD 11.8) in H2, 2013.

price group 2 (up 69%):

- priced between 250,000 rubles (USD 29.3) and 400,000 rubles (USD 46.9 (USD 38.1)) – 140,600 rubles in H1, 2013; between 325,000 rubles (USD 38.1) and 450,000 rubles (USD 52.8) – Br160,600 in H2, 2013.

price group 3 (up 55.6%):

- priced over 400,000 rubles (USD 46.9) - 160,600 rubles (USD 18.8) in H1, 2013; over 450,000 rubles (USD 52.8) – Br180,600 (USD 21.2) in H2, 2013.

The excise tax on smoking tobacco and pipe tobacco (per kilogram) goes up by 66.7% to Br206.300 (USD 24.2) – in H1, 2013; Br233,800 (USD 27.34) in H2, 2012.

The excise tax on cigars (per unit) goes up by 66.7% - Br12.000 (USD 1.4) in H1, 2013, Br13,600 (USD 1.6) in H2, 2012;

The excise tax on cigarillos (per 1,000 units) goes up by 73.8% to Br179,000 (USD 21) in H1 and Br203,400 (USD 23.8) in H2.
