OREANDA-NEWS. November 26, 2012. OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel (hereinafter – the Company or MMC Norilsk Nickel) held today in Murmansk a round table focusing problems of corporate social responsibility (CSR). The event covering Responsible business procedure and social investments of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel into the development of Murmansk region was held in line with the guidelines of the RIBU (Russian Industrial and Business Union) Council of non-financial reporting. The round table made part of the I Murmansk international business week, reported the press-centre of Norilsk Nickel. 

Federal, regional and municipal authorities, business community, educational, consulting and social structures, OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel and Kola MMC (the Company’s affiliate) took part in the round table.

The delegates paid special attention to the positive experience of the Company in the field of corporate social responsibility. The 2011 Company’s expenditures for more comfortable labor conditions in the Extreme North amounted to bln RUB 3.5. The charity and social sphere support allocations in the Company’s zones of operation have climbed, within the past 2 years, to bln RUB 14.5.

The round table participants suggested annual round tables (public hearings) on social responsibility in the Company’s zones of operation be held within the framework of formulating CSR reports of the Company.

It was found expedient to develop in Murmansk region interregional contacts between the industrial enterprises and to expand the experience of the Company’s invitations of skilled labor from other regions, as well as to create a system of mining personnel training.
