OREANDA-NEWS. November 30, 2012. Belarus will gradually phase out sales of standing wood starting 2013: from 50% of the timber cutting fund (3.2 million cubic metres) to 25% in 2014 (1.7 million cubic metres). Starting 2015 standing wood sales will only be valid for the softwood cutting fund in remote areas. The aforementioned regulations are introduced by the president’s ordinance #504 of November 8, 2012.

The move is intended to develop Belarus’ market of saw timber.

The ordinance simplifies the procedure of selling small quantities of standing wood (10-15 cubic metres) to be used as firewood.
