OREANDA-NEWS. November 30, 2012. The first main process equipment of the turbine island of Leningrad NPP-2 under construction was installed by TITAN-2 Holding’s subsidiary - MSU-90, JSC.

Feed-water deaerator is a heavy-weight and a large-size installation. This work is opening the stage of the key equipment installation at the plant's turbine island.

The total weight of the deaerator is 200 tones and its length is 36 metres. The equipment is of the highest safety class. Deaerator installation is performed by the personnel from the holding's installation organization, MSU-90, JSC using a Manitowoc 18 000 fully mobile crane.

The first installation stage performed on November 21 and 22 was the lifting of two deaerator's 86 and 90 –ton-tanks up to the mark of 16 m. The second one will be the installation of deaerator columns with the total weight 33 tons.

Nikita Gerasimov, director of the program for construction of Leningrad NPP-2 from JSC CONCERN TITAN-2, "The work we have to do installing the deaerator in the installation axis is not very simple. Usually the deviations allowed while installing NPP equipment are measured in millimetres but here they should be equal to zero. That means that the electrical installation should be ideally perfectly installed in relation to the horizon line. That is what makes the main difficulty in the task to be performed, which can be coped with only by the installation workers having all the necessary permits, the highest qualification, and large professional experience."

The feed installation which includes the feed-water deaerator as its component is one of the most important elements of the NPP cycle arrangement providing the reliability of its operations and uninterrupted power production.
