OREANDA-NEWS. December 3, 2012. Breaking the Ice is the largest exhibition of contemporary Russian art of the Soviet era. The collection on show comprises over 200 works by twenty two leading nonconformist artists, including Ilya Kabakov, Lidiya Masterkova, Erik Bulatov and Dmitry Pirogov. The exhibition centres on the three “golden” decades of the post-Stalinist period, in which Moscow school of contemporary art was reborn. The curator of the exhibition is Andrey Erofeev.

The exhibition was opened by Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Alexander Yakovenko, former Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Mikhail Shvydkoy, and the organizer of the exhibition, managing partner of CentreInvest Capital Partners Igor Tsukanov. Among the guests were Vladimir Posner, senior partner and board member of Fleming Family & Partners Mark Garber, and the founder of the Moscow House of Photography Olga Sviblova.
