OREANDA-NEWS. December 03, 2012. Anhui's grain yield reached 33 billion kilograms in 2012, up 1.5 billion kg from a year ago, the National Bureau of Statistics said in an announcement.

Such an increase has been the biggest over the recent few years and the total output hit a historical high for the seventh consecutive year.

The province's summer grain output rose by 80 million kg year-on-year to 13 billion kg, while the growing area of autumn crops increased by 20,000 mu to 59 million mu.

Anhui's grain production capacity rose from 26 billion kg in 2005 and 30 billion kg in 2008 to 33 billion kg in 2012. The continuous bumper harvests were attributed to output-driven technological projects and the central government's policies to benefit farmers and to strengthen agriculture, insiders said.
