OREANDA-NEWS. December 4, 2012. RBC OJSC (MICEX-RTS: RBCM) announces that RU-CENTER's project "Worldwide Domains" has won the National Award for the Development of the Russian-speaking segment of the Internet in the "Innovations and Technology" category. This is the second time RU-CENTER (a part of RBC) has been awarded the Runet Prize after its "Domain Name Auction" project came out on top in the same category in 2007.

The IX award ceremony of the National Award for the Development of the Russian-speaking segment of the Internet "Runet 2012 Prize" was held on November 21, 2012. Prizes were handed out during the awards ceremony to the winners in six main and four special categories, with three winners in each category. This year, RU-CENTER's project "Worldwide Domains," which provides individuals and companies in Russia with an opportunity to choose and register domain names with national and international domain extensions of almost all countries from around the world (the registrar's clients have a choice of over 300 domain extensions), was nominated and won in the "Innovations and Technology" category.

This new high-profile award recognizes RU-CENTER's success in carrying out its mission aimed at providing clients and partners with hi-tech and innovative services, promoting Internet in Russia through convenient domain registration solutions, Internet addressing services, web-hosting and tech support for foreign, as well as Russian, users.

Overall, over 650 applications have been filed for the Runet Prize. The award is organized by the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC), and sponsored by the Federal Agency for Print and Mass Media of the Russian Federation.
