In the result of the talks, the sides reached agreement on supply of natural gases to southern regions of Kazakhstan at the volume of 3 billion cubic meters through BGR-TBA and Gazli-Shimkent gas pipelines.

At the same time, the parties reached agreement on supply of additional 0.5 billion cubic meters of gas through Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline.

The Kazakh company said that the sides also reached agreement on supply of Uzbek gas to China through Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline. KazTransGaz said that it adopted all necessary measures to improve gas supply situation in southern regions of Kazakhstan and avoid interruption of gas supplies to population and social objects in the region.

Kazakh company recalled that in line with agreements between KazTransGaz and Gazprom, Kazakhstan should annually receive 3 billion cubic meters of gas on exchange operations. In its turn, Uzbekistan supplied only 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas, which created deficit in southern regions of Kazakhstan. It added that the full volume of gas will be delivered to southern Kazakhstan due to organization of supplies through Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline.

Currently, the volume of planned consumption of Uzbek gas in southern regions of Kazakhstan makes up 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas a year. In line with the demand of the Kazakh government, the price for gas from 1 January 2012 was US. This was achieved due to swap agreement with Gazprom. Russian firm buys gas from Uzbekistan and supplies it to southern Kazakhstan at acceptable price. In its turn, KazMunayGaz returns the gas to Russian firm from its Karachagans field at the same volume and same price.
