OREANDA-NEWS. December 06, 2012. Sberbank of Russia refutes inaccurate information regarding giving out radioactive banknotes to a client, published by some media outlets, reported the press-centre of Sberbank.

It was reported earlier that retiree Kryzhanovskaya E.G. used a consumer-grade radiation monitor to discover a high dose of radiation contamination on the money she kept at home. An expertise by Scientific Industrial Association (SIA) 'Radon' has revealed two contaminated banknotes at her place. According to her statement, which has been cited by several media outlets, she received the bills at Sberbank's office.

Sberbank would like to declare that Ms. Kryzhanovskaya have not received the contaminated banknotes at Sberbank. While making her statement, Ms. Kryzhanovskaya could not have possibly be sure that the contaminated bills have been given to her exactly at Sberbank. This is proven by the following information.

On September 22, 2012, Ms. Kryzhanovskaya has received 10 banknotes at Sberbank, which according to Ms. Kryzhanovskaya's statement, she has put away with the money she already kept at home. Only on September 24 Ms. Kryzhanovskaya has detected that the bills give out a high dose of radiation. It is obvious that Ms. Kryzhanovskaya could have had banknotes received from someone else in her apartment.

On September 24, 2012 employees of the SIA Radon have tested in a lab the radiation of banknotes, received from Ms. Kryzhanovskaya. 12 bills have been tested, only two of them have shown highly increased levels of radiation. It is obvious that these two banknotes have made their way to Ms. Kryzhanovskaya from somewhere else.

Sberbank have initiated its own investigation, including the radiation testing of the office, which Ms. Kryzhanovskaya went to. Employees of Rospotrebnadzor (The Federal Service for Control in the Sphere of Protection Consumers' Rights and Well-Being of Humans) have thoroughly examined the office and haven't detected any increased radiation levels, which is evidence to the fact that Ms. Kryzhanovskaya could not have received the contaminated banknotes at Sberbank. The relevant resolution is in possession of Sberbank and may be provided upon request.

Sberbank has received no official appeal from Ms. Kryzhanovskaya regarding her receiving contaminated bills at the bank.
