OREANDA-NEWS. December 07, 2012. Prudential Financial, Inc. [NYSE:PRU] recently presented awards to more than 525 of its employees around the world and grants totaling USD 252,250 to the community based non-profit organizations with which they volunteer.

The donations were made through two special programs that each year honor employees for the volunteer service they provide to local non-profit organizations. One program, Skills in Service Awards, selects 25 employees who best demonstrate how they have used or developed their work skills and leadership qualities while coordinating their volunteer service project. This year, 25 non-profit organizations will each receive a USD 5000 grant from The Prudential Foundation, for a total of USD 125,000.

The Hands for Service Awards program recognized employees who volunteered 40 hours or more with an eligible non-profit organization. This year, 509 employees – 482 in the United States and 27 in overseas offices – each earned USD 250 grants for a total of USD 127,250 for the non-profit organizations they volunteered with last year.

“We are inspired by the dedication and commitment of our volunteers who give so much of their time and talent to support the missions of non-profit organizations in their communities,” said Lata Reddy, vice president, Corporate Social Responsibility, at Prudential and president of The Prudential Foundation.

The Prudential Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation supported by The Prudential Insurance Company of America, a subsidiary of Prudential Financial, Inc. The Prudential Foundation focuses its grant making strategy in the areas of education, economic development and arts and civic infrastructure and it supports community engagement efforts of Prudential employees through Matching Gifts and other programs that recognize their volunteer work.
