OREANDA-NEWS. December 12, 2012. Lebedinsky GOK (“LGOK”) (part of METALLOINVEST) has passed an audit of its occupational health and safety management system in line with the international standard OHSAS 18001:2007.

The audit was carried out by the business service provider BSI (British Standards Institution). Experts evaluated work done in the area of occupational health and safety management in ten business units of the Plant. The auditors concluded that the management system in place at LGOK complies with the OHSAS 18001 standard.

Valery Karpov, BSI’s lead auditor, noted that the Plant has made significant progress over the past few years to develop a management system in line with the principles of this international standard.

Oleg Mikhailov, Managing Director of LGOK, commented: “The safety of our employees is one of METALLOINVEST’s priorities. Receiving certification is evidence that the company deals with matters concerning occupational health and safety in line with globally accepted parameters.”

The company’s management system was certified in line with the requirements of the international standard OHSAS 18001 in January 2008. In November 2010, LGOK passed an audit which re-certified the company until November 2013. The next recertification audit is scheduled to take place next autumn.

In October 2012, LGOK also passed a recertification audit of its quality management system in line with international standard ISO 9001:2008. An audit of the Plant’s environmental management system in line with the ISO 14001:2007 standard is scheduled to take place in November 2012.
