OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2012. Governor of Russia’s Kaliningrad Region Nikolai Tsukanov has invited Belarus to participate in the construction and further use of Kaliningrad port terminal.

Belarus may also join the construction of road infrastructure that should be completed in Kaliningrad Region before the World Football Championship of 2018, the governor told Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk.

Speaking about the bilateral trade and economic cooperation, Nikolai Tsukanov pointed out that the mutual trade turnover was rising but still there was a potential to increase it considerably. He agreed with Alexander Lukashenko that the parties should use advantages of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space to expand the bilateral cooperation. “I am convinced that our trade turnover can be much larger,” said the governor.

During his visit to Belarus, Nikolai Tsukanov is expected to sign Belarus-Kaliningrad Region cooperation plan for 2013 and a plan for cooperation between Brest Region Administration and Kaliningrad Region Government for 2013-2015.
