OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2012. December 6, an ocean vessel Ghena has delivered the largest shipment of heifers in the history of cattle breeding of the country to the port in Kaliningrad from the USA.

10 267 heads of Aberdeen-Angus including 240 oxes and 36 horses of “cowboy breed” Quarter Horse were transported to Miratorg farms in Kaliningrad region. 106 specialized vehicles were engaged in cattle transportation. Reception of animals ended on December 10.

Arrived animals were placed to three farms located in Ozersky region. Thus, 4085 heads were placed to the farm “Kadymka” (3395 heifers and 90 oxes), and 4065 (3995 heifers and 70 oxes) to the farm “Karamyshevo”. There are 4098 (4017 heifers and 81 oxes) heads held at the farm “Dubrava” including earlier imported livestock at the end of September of the current year in number of 1740 heads. 12 horses were also delivered to each farm. Total number of Miratorg livestock in Kaliningrad region composes more than 12 thousand heads at the moment.

All animals are clinically healthy and placed for quarantine. At the moment at the farms there are diagnostic studies and anti-infectious activities being conducted stated by Veterinary requirements upon importation to the customs territory of the Customs Union or transfer between the parties of breeding and custom cattle, approved by the Commission of the Customs Union from 18.06.2010 No. 317.

ABH Miratorg is also implementing an investment project on beef cattle development in Bryansk region which is considered the largest in the world in terms of simultaneous management of breeding stock Aberdeen-Angus. Today, out of 25 cattle farms erected in Bryansk region in terms of this project, 18 farms are already settled with total number of cattle more than 66 000 heads. At the end of December of this year arrival of the next shipment of livestock in the amount of 5 000 heads is expected. In 2013 the number of the farms will increase up to 33 and the livestock up to 112 000.
