OREANDA-NEWS. December 18, 2012. Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 1.7% over the first 27 days of November 2012 and 20,1% since early this year, the National Statistics Committee told.

The largest increase in retail prices was registered with tobacco goods (3.4%), semolina (4.9%), pasta (3.7%), wheat flour (8.3%), canned meat, milk powder blends used as baby food and diet food, bread and bakery goods, butter, tea, alcoholic beverages (2.2%-2.9%), beef (except boneless meat), salty herring, cottage cheese, cheeses, condensed milk with sugar, millet, margarine, mayonnaise (1.1%-2%), household chemicals (2.9%), furniture (2.5%), central heating (50.8%), international train fares (8.3%), household services (3.3%), communication services (2.4%).

The price of tomatoes went up 19.2%, cucumbers – up 13.6%, potatoes – up 4.8%, apples – up 17.6%, citrus fruits – up 1.7%.

Carrot prices dropped by 7.4%, onions – down 6.8%, cabbages – 6.5%, beet roots – down 5%, bananas – down 4.6%.

As previously reported, Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 108.7% in 2011, although the initial forecast for 2011 stood at 7.5%-8.5%. Belarus’ inflation forecast for 2012 stands at 19-22%.
