OREANDA-NEWS. December 19, 2012. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and Sojitz Corporation of Japan, jointly with Renaissance Construction (RC), have received an order from JSC Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat (GNS) of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russian Federation, for a project to construct a new acrylic acid plant capable of producing acrylic acid, butyl acrylate, and glacial acrylic acid concurrently, which process technology is licensed by Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC). The plant is planned to annually produce 80,000 metric tons of acrylic acid, 80,000 metric tons of butyl acrylate and 35,000 metric tons of glacial acrylic acid, and it is expected to reach its projected capacity in the year of 2015.

JSC Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat (GNS) is a subsidiary company of Gazprom group, which has facilities of oil refining and gas chemical products. Recently GNS has steadily implemented their investment plans for its higher efficiency, including the rehabilitation of their refineries and ethylene plants. This new plant for acrylic acid, butyl acrylate, and glacial acrylic acid is for GNS to expand the chemical product production in Russian and CIS market.

This order contract is on lump-sum turn-key basis, covering engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), which is the first EPC petrochemical project in the Republic of Bashkortostan. It is highly expected that the project will have a stimulatory influence on further modernization of the petrochemical sector in Gazprom group.
