OREANDA-NEWS. December 19, 2012. Fujitsu subsidiary PFU Imaging Solutions Europe, European leader in document scanners for professional users, today announced that its line of fi-series scanners is now compatible with the EMC Captiva Cloud Toolkit from EMC Corporation. The toolkit helps application developers to quickly add scanning and imaging functionality directly to their business applications.

EMC Captiva Cloud Toolkit is a software development kit (SDK) that enables browser-based applications to directly access Fujitsu
fi-series document scanners without needing downloads or limiting the user to a single browser. Browser-based applications developed with the EMC Captiva Cloud toolkit can now seamlessly drive scanning functionality directly with the fi-series scanners. In this way document capture vendors, commercial software developers, and enterprises can provide customized browser-based image capture applications. Also, with this technology, user-friendly scanning can be easily integrated into existing browser-based business applications, streamlining the capture and classification of paper documents. The integration of Fujitsu fi-series scanners with browser-based applications developed with the toolkit will deliver significant business and user benefits.

“We are a technology leader, that provides easy to use scanning solutions for our partners, developers and customers,” said Mike Nelson, General Manager Sales and Marketing EMEA for PFU Imaging Solutions Europe Ltd. "The EMC Captiva Cloud Toolkit functionality underlines our support of that mission. This cooperation simplifies the process by which developers can produce cloud and browser-based applications with easy user-friendly scanning for our customers".

Klaus Schulz, Manager Product Marketing EMEA, PFU Imaging Solutions, sees great potential in the relationship with EMC: “Companies of all sizes will more and more utilize cloud and browser-based solutions. The seamless digital process of an intelligent cloud solution offers customers the speed, flexibility and security they need in order to perform in competitive marketplaces.”

“Fujitsu’s fi-series scanners provide comprehensive features to meet changing customer needs. By incorporating EMC Captiva Cloud, Fujitsu is delivering technology that will respond to customers’ growing demand for image and document capture,” said Chris McLaughlin, Vice President of Channel Alliances for the Information Intelligence Group Division of EMC. “The combination of EMC and Fujitsu technology will yield applications that will increase business efficiency and ultimately reduce deployment and maintenance costs.”

The EMC Captiva Cloud technology is available on all fi-series scanners on the Fujitsu website via a driver update and will also begin shipping with new scanners in November 2012.
