OREANDA-NEWS. December 19, 2012. Power Machines OJSC has manufactured and tested a 67 MW turbine generator designed for Karagandinskaya TPP in Kazakhstan.

A contract to produce and supply a TZFP-63-2MUZ type turbine generator complete with an excitation system was signed with Kazakhmys Corporation LLP in May 2012. The equipment is to be supplied in Q4 2013.

The design rated capacity of the generator is 63 MW. But the capacity was increased to 67 MW on the client's request. It has become possible to increase the capacity due to sufficient heating margins of the stator and rotor windings, as well as to a certain decrease in the cooling water temperature at the power plant.

Air-cooled turbine generators of TZF-type with capacity 63 to 350 MW produced by Power Machines are designed to mate with steam and gas turbines at newly built power plant, as well as to replace the machines of this type, which exhausted their service life. Engineering solutions allow to achieve high efficiency.

In addition to the turbine generator Power Machines are also to supply Karagandinskaya TPP with a K-66-8.8 with capacity of 66 MW, which is currently being manufactured by Kaluga Turbine Works OJSC, a part of Power Machines OJSC. The new turbine and generator are going to replace the similar machines at the second power unit of TPP.

Power Machines are now manufacturing this kind of equipment for another Kazakhstan power plant – Zhezkazganskaya TPP. The correspinding contract was signed with Kazakhmys Corporation JSC in June 2012.
