OREANDA-NEWS. December 19, 2012. Scandinavian Airlines SAS received a special award from the Lithuanian State Department of Tourism for the Establishment of Consistent Air Bridge with Europe.

On December 12, 2012 Lithuanian State Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Economy organized a special event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Lithuanian Tourism. On this occasion 12 best tourism industry players in Lithuania from different market segments had been awarded. Scandinavian Airlines SAS received the main award in the category of Establishment of Consistent Air Bridge with Europe.

Lithuanian State Department of Tourism award for the Establishment of Consistent Air Bridge with Europe was presented by the Chairperson of the Parliament of Lithuania Mr Vydas Gedvilas to Mr Bjorn Ekegren, Regional General Manager Central Europe, representative of Scandinavian Airlines SAS.

“I feel very honoured to be here and to receive this award. SAS is present in Lithuania already for 20 years and is going to stay here. Back in 1992 SAS was the first international airline company having established regular flights to Lithuania and bridging this country with Europe”, said Mr. Ekegren.

Mr. Ekegren expressed his special thanks to Lithuanian State Department of Tourism for the award. He also thanked all Travel Agencies in Lithuania for long years of cooperation.

This is the first Scandinavian Airlines SAS award received from Lithuanian officials during the 20 years of services in the country.
