OREANDA-NEWS. December 26, 2012. Any company in Belarus can be sold to an investor, but it is always a matter of price, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said Tuesday at the Forum of European and Asian Media (FEAM-2012).

“Any company in Belarus without exception can go on sale. It is all about the terms of the deal and the price. The price is more important though,” Lukashenko said.

Belarus remembers the impact of landslide privatization in Russia and Ukraine in the 1990s and is not going to follow that way, Lukashenko said.

The Belarusian president insists that privatization of state-owned companies should be fair and transparent. Speaking about privatization and expert advice offered by the European Union, Lukashenko had this to say: “it is our domestic affair what we should sell and how.”
