OREANDA-NEWS. December 27, 2012. A bright event took place in Moscow Domodedovo Airport – the 10-millionth passenger, carried by Transaero Airlines in 2012, arrived to Moscow by flight UN124. It was Darina Arzhanova, the resident of Vladivostok.

The management of Transaero Airlines decided to upgrade flight class of the milestone ticket owner up to Imperial. Alexander Ignatov, first deputy general director of Transaero Airlines, presented Darina an airplane model and certificate for business class flight en route Vladivostok-Moscow-Vladivostok.

Igor Borisov, director of Moscow Domodedovo Airport, took part in the festive meeting of the “10-millionth”. He presented the passenger from Vladivostok flowers and a souvenir. Having mentioned the airline’s progress, Igor Borisov said: "10 millions is an impressive figure. Such a number of travellers, who have chosen Transaero Airlines, definitely points at the highest service standards".

Transaero Airlines is one of the largest air carriers at Moscow Domodedovo Airport. On average Domodedovo handles about 64 flights of airlines on a daily basis with an average daily passenger traffic about 20,000 passengers. In the “peak season” the amount of Transaero Airlines flights from Moscow Domodedovo Airport reaches 75 flights per day, and daily passenger traffic increases up to 25,000 passengers.

Transaero Airlines was established in 1990. It started flights in November, 1991. It is the second largest airline in Russia. Transaero Airlines is one of the world leading air carriers on the tourist directions. The company is the only one in Russia, CIS and Eastern Europe which operates the airliners Boeing-747 and Boeing-777. The route network of Transaero Airlines covers more than 130 directions in Russia, countries of Europe, Asia, America and Africa.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest airport of Russia in terms of passenger traffic. In 2011, total passenger traffic of the airport amounted to 25,7 million people which let Domodedovo become the first Russian airport to join the category of the largest airports in Europe on the classification of the Airports Council International (ACI). Domodedovo is the base airport in Russia for member airlines of two largest global airline alliances – oneworld and Star Alliance. According to the annual survey by the independent research company Skytrax Research (UK), Moscow Domodedovo Airport tops the list of the best airports in Eastern Europe in terms of the service quality.
