OREANDA-NEWS. December 27, 2012. KfW Bankengruppe published its third Sustainability Report. As one of the world's leading and most experienced promotional banks, its mission is to improve the economic, social and ecological living conditions in Germany and abroad.

"A sense of responsibility shapes the business and activities of KfW. With our products we support economic, ecological and societal change in Germany and around the world. As part of an ongoing modernisation process, we have refocused our business operations to concentrate even more strongly on socially relevant challenges and sustainability criteria," said Dr Ulrich Schroder, Chief Executive Officer of KfW Bankengruppe.

The activities presented in the report illustrate how KfW, as the promotional bank for the German Federal Government and the states, carries forward-looking projects from Frankfurt into the whole world. KfW supports sustainable development in many areas, for example in start-up promotion, education financing, promotional programmes for age-appropriate conversions of housing, or poverty reduction. The bank is active in 120 countries around the globe.

In 2011 KfW invested one in three euro in environmental and climate protection (EUR 22.8 billion), making a considerable contribution to the climate policy goals set by the German Federal Government in the course of the energy turnaround. The promotional bank is among the world's largest financiers of renewable energies.
