OREANDA-NEWS. December 28, 2012. Protek launched a large-scale project for implementation of returnable package in company logistics. The main idea of the project is to replace disposable cardboard package used for goods delivery to the client with specialized plastic package that is more reliable and durable.

The city where the project has been fully implemented and functioning for the first time is Yekaterinburg. More than 120 Protek client drugstores are supplied with the goods in returnable package there.

Use of plastic containers for goods delivery has a number of significant advantages such as cost saving on purchasing disposable package and disposal of paper waste, more reliable goods storage when transported in plastic containers, no dust and litter in drugstores. This is why returnable packaging has been used long since by distributors and drugstores in Europe and USA.

As Denis Drobyashenko, manager of projects for technology development of Protek, said, all activities related to implementation of returnable package in Yekaterinburg logistics center will be repaid approximately in one year.

In the future, the company plans to implement the project throughout Russia, at large logistic hubs equipped with special-purpose containers ensuring optimal goods packaging. The Moscow region is planned to be fully switched to the use of plastic package in 2013 – 2014.
