OREANDA-NEWS. December 29, 2012. At the Uzbek Agency for Automobile and River Transport, the Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the issues of Industry, Construction and Trade held a meeting dedicated to the study of execution of the Law "On automobile transport" in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Andijan and Surkhandarya regions.

Chairman of the Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the issues of industry, construction and trade S.Jabborov, head of the Uzbek Agency for Automobile and River Transport A.Abduvaliyev, first deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan J.Embergenov and others noted that under the direction of President Islam Karimov, all the necessary conditions have been created for the dynamic development of the transport sector and to ensure traffic safety. Currently, 98.5 percent of road transport services for passengers and 90 percent of freight traffic are being carried out by non-governmental sector.

In Uzbekistan, if in 2000 year, 265 companies engaged in freight and passenger transportation, on 1 July 2012 this number reached 3841. In providing these services, mainly domestic cars are used.

The number of routes has reached almost 4,000, that much more in comparison with the previous years. At present, in Karakalpakstan, conveyance of passengers carried out on 377 routes, in Andijan region – on 292 and in Surkhandarya region – on 173 directions. Services of the leasing companies are very popular in upgrading the vehicles.

As a result of joint inspections held by the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, State Tax Committee and the Uzbek Agency for Automobile and River Transport operating in the places, several violations of the law were found in the provision of road transport services.  The tax authorities imposed a fine in accordance with the established procedure.

Practical proposals and recommendations aimed at elimination of the shortcomings were made at the meeting.
