OREANDA-NEWS. December 29, 2012. The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Azerbaijan has developed the National Plan for the Prevention and Elimination of Oil Spills in the Caspian Sea.

The Ministry reports that the national plan was prepared with the support of the OSCE Office in Baku.

"The Plan will contribute to the elimination of processes resulting from accidents at companies running oil and gas operations, and transportation of oil, as well as in the integrated management of these processes," MES Main Infrastructure Department’s head Tariel Huseynov said.

Koray Targay, head of the Baku-based OSCE Office, says that Plan development is linked with Azerbaijan’s commitments within international conventions.
