OREANDA-NEWS. January 11, 2013. The leader of the MoSEFF programme, Tino Mahler said 62 projects have already taken their loans from the Moldovan partner banks, their total sum amounting to 15.2 million euros.

According to Mahler, the MoSEFF projects helped save primary energy amounting to 96 417 MWh, which is equivalent to an annual energy consumption of 42,823 citizens. Also the projects helped reduce CO2 emissions by 31,497 tonnes, which is equivalent to the total amount of CO2 emissions of 22,498 cars.

"We are glad that the number of companies that participate in the MoSEFF programme is increasing. Given the rising energy prices, Moldovan companies are more and more interested in reducing energy consumption costs, so that they could stay competitive on the market," Mahler said.

Two big poultry producers, Floreni and Larsan Nor, are among the companies that have recently obtained financial support to restore their industrial facilities and renew their equipment, thus reducing the energy consumption. Another Moldovan company was the first one to start a business with photovoltaic panels. The 100-kW installation, which is made of 400 photovoltaic panels, will generate 136 MWh of energy per year.

The credit line for Moldovan Sustainable Energy Financing Facility (MoSEFF) was officially launched by the EBRD in February 2010. The line offers consultancy both to potential debtors and the banking sector. The programme was prolonged by two more years in July 2012, being granted additional credits amounting to 22-million-euros.
