OREANDA-NEWS. January 15, 2013. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, inflation was 0.5% in December. To compare, in 2011 consumer price index grew 7.8% in Moldova; inflation was 0.2% in December, 2011. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in January-December, 2012 prices for foodstuff went 5.4% up, prices for non-foods increased 3.6%; tariffs for services grew 3%. In December, 2012 prices for foods and nonfoods increased 1.1% and 0.3% respectively.

Tariffs went up 0.1%. In 2012 the highest increase in prices was registered for fresh vegetables (22.7%), eggs (19.5%), fresh fruits (11.4%), meat, meat products and tinned food (8.4%), vegetable oil (8.1%), milk and dairy (4.8%), bread (3.8%) and sugar (2.8%). Among non-foods, in 2012 the greatest increase in prices was registered for fuel (на 5.1%), cloths (4.,3%), footwear (3.4%), building materials (2.9%), medicines (1.4%).

Among services, prices grew most of all for water supply and sewerage (15,.2%), electricity supply (7.3%), catering (3.9%), utility services (3.6%), passenger transportation (1.8%). As compared with November, 2012, in December, 2012 prices for fresh fruit grew 7.9%. In particular, they grew 14.3% sweet pepper, 15.8% for tomatoes, 10.5% for cucumbers, 9.4% for beets, 4.4% for onions, 3.2% for carrots and 2.9% for garlic.

Prices also grew 2.1% for grapes, 6% for fat, 1.7% for dairy, fresh and frozen fish. Curds went up 1.1%. At the same time, prices decreased 1.3% for the citrous, 1% for pork, 0.8% for beef and vodka and 0.5% for tropic fruit. Among nonfoods, in December, 2012 the greatest increase in prices was registered for cloths which went up 0,5%, foot wear (0.2%) and cigarettes (0.7%). At the same time, fuel and bottle gas declined in prices by 0.7% and 0.3% respectively. Prices for summer foot wear, electric devices, fridges, washing machines and vacuum cleaners as well as detergents declined by 0.1% to 0.4%.

Among services to the population, n December, 2012 tariffs for postal services and passenger transportation grew 9.9% and 0.3% respectively. At the same time, tution kindergartens declined 1.5%. It should be reminded that the National Bank of Moldova raised the inflation projection from 3.9% to 4.1% for 2012 and from 3.9% to 5.3% for 2013.
