OREANDA-NEWS. January 15, 2013. According to the results of 2012 Moscow Domodedovo Airport served 28,2 million people, comparing to 2011 increase of passenger traffic amounted to 9,6%.

This mark became a record, reached by Domodedovo for the first time in its history.

In 2012 one more achievement was gained: passenger traffic in august reached historical maximum and amounted to 3,2 million people.

Amount of served flights in 2012 increased on 4,2% and totalled 253,5 thousand take-offs and landings.

Domestic passenger traffic in 2012 amounted to 11,6 million people, which is 13,6% more than last year. The most dynamic domestic routes became: St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk and Samara. Passenger traffic on these routes increased 19,8% and amounted to 3,2 million people.

International passenger traffic in 2012 amounted to 16,6 million people, which is 6,9% more than in 2011. The biggest growth has been recorded on Minsk, Barcelona, Kiev, Erevan and Paphos routes. In 2012 the passenger traffic on these routes totalled 1,7 million people, plus 42,5% from 2011.

In 2012, cargo traffic of Domodedovo increased by 4,3% and amounted to 196 984 tons.

On the results of December, 2012 passenger traffic of Moscow Domodedovo Airport totalled 2,1 million people which is 12,9% more than in December, 2011.

The amount of operated flights in December, 2012 increased 6,5% (compared with last year) and totalled 20,6 thousand take-offs and landings.

The biggest growth of passenger traffic in December has been recorded on international traffic – plus 14,5% from December, 2011 and is 1,2 million people.

Domestic passenger traffic increased 11,1% comparing to last year and amounted to 0,9 million people.

Cargo traffic of Domodedovo in December, 2012 amounted to 19 719 tons, which is 6,5% more than in the same period, 2011.

Important events in 2012 for Moscow Domodedovo Airport:

The 50th anniversary of the airport. The half century of work made Domodedovo the largest airport of East Europe in terms of passenger traffic.

IATA certification of handling complex work according to regulations of international standard ISAGO, proving a full accordance of Domodedovo with world service standards.

Increased traffic capacity of the passenger terminal. A new check-in island with 20 check-in desks was opened. The amount of CUSS kiosks reached 47 units.

Start servicing airliners Boeing 787 Dreamliner of JAL airline and Airbus A380 of Emirates airline. Domodedovo became the first and the only airport of Russia, accommodating such aircrafts on a regular basis.

Completed reconstruction of in-flight catering facility (Domodedovo Catering Service) – the largest one in Russia and one of the largest in South Europe in-flight catering facility (in terms of area and operating capabilities).

As of January 2013, 81 airlines operate flights from Domodedovo on 246 destinations, 80 of which are unique for Moscow airport hub.
