OREANDA-NEWS. January 15, 2013. In accordance with the directives of the Russian Federal Authority for Transport Supervision, Rostransnadzor, and referring to the information on the Tu-204 fatal accident at Vnukovo International Airport on December 29, 2012, and information on earlier type’s runway overruns, Transaero has undertaken a comprehensive review of the three Tu-214 aircraft operated by the airline.

No defects were detected during the review. All airline’s Tu-214s were acknowledged to be in normal state.

Notwithstanding the review’s results, Transaero’s executives kept in force their decision made immediately after the air crash to suspend Tu-214 operations and replace these aircraft with Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 767 in the airline’s schedule.

The decision on resuming the Transaero’s Tu-214 aircraft flights will depend on the results of the official accident investigation.
