OREANDA-NEWS. January 16, 2013. In 2012, the capacity of the Merchant Sea Port of Ust-Luga increased 2 times and reached 46,612,449.255 tons. Such a growth occurred due to the forthcoming of new cargoes as well as a systematic increase in transshipments by existing terminals.

 Totally, stevedoring companies transshipped 472,231.424 tons of general cargoes, 15,591,379.754 tons of coal, 922,931.230 tons of cast iron, 1,101,402.100 tons of sulphur, 12,591,718.054 tons of petroleum products, 14,175,709.124 tons of crude oil in the port last year. The transshipment volume of vehicles reached 167,380 units, which is 20% higher compared to the volume in 2011.

 In 2012, the number of processed railcars came up to 485,259 railcars, i.e. 1.4 times more than in 2011.

 In 2011, the Port of Ust-Luga transshipped 22,737,260.482 tons of various cargoes and 133,837 vehicles. The volume is believed to reach 180 mln tons when the port attains its full capacity.
