Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 1.4% in December 2012 to compare with 1.7% in November, 1.8% in October, 1.3% in September, 2.3% in August, 1.3% in July, 1.8% in June, 1.6% in May, 1.7% in April, 1.5% in March, 1.5% in February and 1.9% in January 2012, the National Statistics Committee told.

In January-December 2012 Belarus’ consumer prices grew 21.8%.

In December, staple food prices went up 1.8% (up 25.1% since early January 2012); non-food prices increased 0.1% (up 10.3%), and service prices went up 2.6% (36.1%).

Belarus’ inflation grew 108.7% in 2011, while the original forecast for 2011 stood at 7.5%-8.5%. The government expects inflation to stay under 19-22% in 2012.
