OREANDA-NEWS. January 22, 2013. ArcelorMittal is presenting a raft of new, resource-efficient steel products for the construction sector, at the world’s leading trade show for architecture, materials and systems, reported the press-centre of ArcelorMittal.

ArcelorMittal Construction and ArcelorMittal Commercial Long Germany will showcase a broad range of innovative new steel products at BAU 2013, from 14 to 19 January, together with Bauforum Stahl (the Steel Building Forum). The theme for the joint stand is “Steel – Building in the Material Cycle”.

ArcelorMittal is exhibiting a variety of products for floors and wall claddings, including the anti-graffiti coating Flontec. This special coating for steel cladding enables the removal of graffiti using just a sponge and water. The company’s Cofrastra – a composite floor – will also be on display.  Composite floors open up many different opportunities for architects, planners and installation companies, allowing for a high level of industrial prefabrication, flexibility in use, short building times and high load-carrying capacity. Architects can design slender, elegant structures with high aesthetic appeal, as the steel support structure is integrated into the property’s appearance as a design feature.

With its HISTAR® steels, produced exclusively in Differdange, Luxembourg, ArcelorMittal is making a further contribution to innovation in resource-efficient materials. The HISTAR® sections – which are made of high-strength steel which enables material savings of up to 50% compared with conventional steel sections - combine high strength and toughness at low temperatures, and offer excellent weldability. Thanks to this enhanced performance, it is possible to reduce building costs, save weight and significantly reduce CO2 emissions.

For the wind power sector, ArcelorMittal has developed new angle sections for use in lattice towers. The use of these sections means taller towers can be built, which in turn facilitates the use of higher winds that generate more energy. Lattice towers made of steel are more easily transported in difficult terrain and have the lowest life cycle costs for sustainable energy generation.

ArcelorMittal will also be showing its specialist steel for bridges. Composite precast bridges using rolled girders with concrete infill (PreCoBeam bridges) represent a new form of design for composite bridges, offering high fatigue strength and long delivery lengths which make only a few on-site joints necessary and allow pre-processing in the rolling mill. This enables the delivery of ready-to-install components direct to the building site, resulting in very short installation times and making lengthy traffic restrictions unnecessary.
