OREANDA-NEWS. January 22, 2013. The industrial facilities of AEM-Technologies CJSC and Petrozavodskmach JSC jointed forced to manufacture the first set of casings for the main circulation pumps (MCP) to be installed at the second power generation unit of the Leningrad NPP-2.

Manufacturing this type of equipment is a complex and time-consuming task – the process began as far back as 2010. Currently, the set of four spherical casings with bottom separator blocks has been delivered to the representatives of the client: two casings have already been shipped to the power plant, while the remaining two will be delivered over the first quarter of 2013.

A main circulation pump is an A-class security device. It's used at nuclear power plants to ensure the circulation of coolant through the pipes of the main circulation pipeline, from reactor to steam generator and back. To ensure the required class of security all seams of its casing undergo several types of thorough control: radiographic, ultrasonic and dye penetrant. One MCP casing weighs 31.5 tons and has a width of 3.5 meters and a height of 3 meters. The casings are supplied with a sling element called separator blocks, with which the weight of the product reaches 48 tons.

MCP casing will be mounted by the professionals from the leading installation company of the holding TITAN-2 – MSU-90 JSC.
