OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2013. The 55th Joint Meeting of Production and Productivity Committee of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) was held at Bhilai on January 21, 2013. The top management of SAIL and Union leaders representing workforce in all the plants and units participated in the meeting. In his address, Chairman SAIL Mr. CS Verma highlighted the company’s production performance in the current financial year, the growth registered in various parameters of production and productivity and the impact the latter has on the bottomline. He also spoke of the challenges being faced by the company and SAIL’s preparations to face the same.

Apart from SAIL functional directors and other top management officials, the leading trade union leaders who participated in the meeting included Dr. G Sanjeeva Reddy, President, INTUC, Shri Gaya Singh, President, AITUC, Shri Sanjay Vadhavkar and Shri Rajendro Prasad Singha of HMS and Shri PK Das of CITU. While assuring total cooperation from the unions in SAIL’s growth journey, they requested that all issues pertaining to welfare of the workforce be taken up urgently.
