OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2013. From 24 December 2012 to 8 January 2013 Vnukovo International Airport served 5,715 flights, which is 8.4% more than during the same period last year. Moreover, the total passenger traffic is 372 200 passengers, that corresponds to the increase on 18% respectively in comparison with the last year.

During the Christmas holidays the largest increase of passenger traffic was recorded for such destinations as Istanbul, Hurghada, Dushanbe, Pardubice, Paris, Sharm el-Sheikh, Antalya, Barcelona, Dresden, Hanover, Frankfurt-am-Main, Makhachkala, Ufa, Krasnodar, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad and others.

In 2013, Vnukovo will continue to implement several projects and to expand the route network of the airport. In particular, in March the reconstruction of the runway which will be classified in third category of ICAO and its extension to 500 meters is to be completed. Reconstruction and installation of boarding bridges in the new terminal A will be ended. Therefore, there are prospects to expand the cooperation with existing air carriers and to attract new airlines.

UTair airline will continue to expand its route network and to increase the frequency of existing flights. The airline plans to operate flights to Nalchik, to Ivanovo and to the Far East, as well as to increase the number of flights to the most popular destinations as Tallinn, Cheboksary, Ulyanovsk, Bishkek, Osh, etc.

In 2013 Transaero Airlines will launch flights to New York, Miami, Frankfurt, as well as in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. It also concerns new domestic routes, to begin with Novosibirsk. It is to be mentioned in order to encourage customer loyalty program "Transaero Privilege" and "Corporate Club" bonus points will double for passengers flying in economy class on scheduled flights. Double bonus points will be also credited for flights in all classes from Vnukovo airport to Tel Aviv.

Transaero Airlines and Airline UtAir signed an agreement to enable a multi-focus collaboration including transfer connections through out Vnukovo International airport. Clients of both airlines can find special offers on domestic flights and to dozen European and American cities.

Vnukovo International Airport is one of the largest air transportation hubs in Russia. Every year the airport serves more than 150 thousand flights of Russian and foreign airlines. Airport route map covers all the territory of Russia, the CIS countries, Western Europe, Asia and Africa.

Vnukovo airfield has two intersecting runways with the capacity 58 operations per hour.

Vnukovo-1 airport consists of two terminals: international passenger terminal B with the total area of 25 thousand square meters and a new passenger terminal A with the total area of 270 thousand square meters, 170 thousand square meters of which have been already put into operation. Second launch complex of terminal A was opened in December 2012.
