OREANDA-NEWS. January 29, 2013. Monetary reserves of the National Bank of Moldova reached a new all-time peak and made up USD 2 bln. 519.71 mln. as of January, 18, 2013.

The previous all-time peak of monetary reserves of Moldova was registered on December, 31, 2012 and made up USD 2 bln. 515 mln. As compared with USD 2 bln. 505.1 mln., reported on the previous week, monetary reserves of the national Bank grew USD 14.61 mln. or 0.6%. Since the beginning of 2012 monetary reserves of Moldova have grown USD 549.7 mln. or 28%, InfoMarket reported earlier.

In December, 2012 alone they increased USD 92.971 mln. In 2012 the increase in monetary reserves of Moldova was explained by new tranches Moldova received from IMF to replenish the monetary reserves, by purchases of currency NBM performed on the inner foreign exchange market and by a growth in exchange rates of currencies making monetary reserves against USD. Monetary reserves of Moldova increased USD 247.6 mln. or 14.4%, within 2011, being close to USD 1 bln. 965.3 mln. as of the end of December, 2011.
