OREANDA-NEWS. January 29, 2013. This year Petroleos de Venezuela , S.A. – PDVSA reached significant goals by consolidating multiple projects that increased productivity and benefited directly the Anzoategui state population.

Fernando Padron, general manager of the eastern refining circuit, said that the refining and shipment of oil were optimal in 2012 due to the safety mechanisms implemented at the installations. Thanks to constant supervision and sensitivity campaigns among the workers a crude volumetric handling of 224 thousand barrels per day was reached, including supplies.

“The gross accident rate in 2012 was 4 injuries per million man-hours; the net accident rate was 2 injuries with loss of time per million man-hours and severity in the order of 20 injuries. Thus a noticeable improvement has been established with a downward trend of 20%, 25% and 8% respectively, from 2007”, said Padron.

The oil manager was satisfied with PDVSA’s significant social contributions in 2012 to the residents of Anzoategui state with the construction of 2 thousand 153 houses as part of the Great Housing Mission Vivienda Venezuela and the delivery of 108 thousand tons of asphalt. This is a contribution that the company makes to the “Asphalt Fiesta”, “achieving our goal before the month of December which makes us proud”.

Furthermore, he said that the National Gas Project carried out by the port refinery in the north side accomplished the delivery of gas to 4 thousand 904 families in the Guanta municipality, which represents an increase of 85%. In the Sotillo municipality there is an increase of 10%. It is expected to be completed in the next two years.
