OREANDA-NEWS. January 31, 2013. Environment protection – is an integral part of the ecological policy and social responsibility of JSC “MOESK”. In this connection, the power engineers of branch of JSC “MOESK” - Western Electric Grids are fulfilling a necessary complex of measures to implement it: a planned renovation and substitution of technological installations, industrial waste utilization, organization of ecological up-bringing of the employees, a planned work in these trends with contractor organizations, reported the press-centre of MOESK.

In 2012 the expenditures for the objectives fulfillment in the field of ecology in the Western Electric Grids, amounted to over RUR 2 mln. A special attention was paid to the production sites improvement of the branch and to waste treatment of production and consumption, according to the Health and Hygiene Rules and Standards (SanPin 2.1.7.1322-03). So, in each of eight distribution zones (DZ), forming a part of the branch, 12 water-resistant concreted sites were constructed as and when necessary, made with a special cover for warehousing and storage of overall waste (scrap iron, used tires, used poles etc.). The construction and improvement of 25 production sites has been completed, meant for storage of hard domestic waste (HDW). Each of them is fulfilled on an individual project, according to the existing SanPin rules.

Branch has defined the following significant ecological aspects in its work: a negative impact reduction of the economic activities on the environment, which is lower than the level, established by the norms of the admissible impact on the environment, the system improvement of production ecological control and the preventive measures applying to reduce a negative impact. A special attention is paid to the ecological aspects teaching of the operation and maintenance personnel not to admit the lands contamination with oil products; these personnel maintains the oil-immersed cable lines and equipment for oil preparation and in-feed. Such claims on the ecological aspects are submitted by the Western Electric Grids to every contractor organization, working in the branch’s responsibility area.

The fact that JSC “MOESK” and the branch in particular, is introducing the practice of the internal ecological audit, proves also a high enough level of the power engineers’ ecological responsibility. This arrangement is organized for the efficient management by the environment-related activity. So, in 2012, within the framework of the monitoring of the impact on the environment, 40 analyses of the contaminating agents’ emissions were carried out at the production sites of the subdivisions of the Western Electric Grids. As head of the environment Protection sector of the Western Electric Grids Pavel Kulikov specified: “Analysis of the ecological management system showed, that the branch’s goals as to the environment protection had been achieved the last year, no accidents have been registered which could have resulted in the environment contamination, no offers have been received to the address of the Western Electric Grids regarding the issues of the ecological activities improvement of the enterprise or deficiencies elimination”.

In autumn of 2012 an external audit of the integrated management system took place in the branch, for the quality system conformity to the requirements of International standard ISO 14001:2004 (ecological management) and OHSAS 18001:2007 (occupational health and safety). In the course of the audit carried out, the enterprise demonstrated the objective evidence of the effective support and improvement of its activities as to the ecological policy observance.

In 2013, the Western Electric Grids plan to direct about RUR 3 mln for fulfillment of a complex of arrangements in the sphere of ecology.
