OREANDA-NEWS.  February 04, 2013. Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov discussed with the head of the Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov budget issues of Kyiv.

Adequate city’s exigencies funding according to the Prime Minister is the general objective of the Government and city authorities. Mykola Azarov assured that the Government fully will fund the provided in the State budget funds for carrying out the functions of the capital by Kyiv, as well as the implementation of infrastructure projects, including the construction of new metro stations and transport hub at the Postal Square.

At the same time, the Prime Minister stressed that the territorial community of the city and the city authority can and has to do much more for the development of the city and increase the resource base of the city budget. "There are large reserves, significant potential for investment - it must be mobilized and the revenues of the company will increase", the Prime Minister is convinced.

Mykola Azarov suggested the city authorities to seek their own, practical ways of economic recovery, to study the practice of mayors of major European cities that have successfully used innovative solutions in the crisis environment and the recession.

The Prime Minister also instructed the Minister of Finance, together with the Kyiv City State Administration to develop proposals for increasing the sources of revenues and their direction first of all for the implementation of social programs.

"We must work so that by results of the first quarter we have growth in Kiev, in the country and thus can review budgets towards their increasing", Mykola Azarov summed up.
