OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 2.4% over the first 22 days of January 2013, the National Statistics Committee told.

The largest increase in retail prices was registered with tobacco goods (26.1%), vodka (4.6%), semolina (2.9%), wheat flour (2.8%), low-fat cottage cheese, low-fat cottage cheese, pasta, beer (2-2.5%), milk, melted cheese, bread and bakery goods, oat flakes, confectionery goods (0.9-1.5%), petrol (5.2%), telecom services (20%), economy-class regional railway tickets (16.7%) long-distance railway tickets (7.2%), health vacations (8.4%).

The price of beet roots grew 15.8%, white cabbage - 12.6%, carrots – 11.7%, fresh-grown tomatoes – 11.6%, fresh cucumbers - 10.4%, onions – 7.4%, potatoes – 4.7%, bananas – 9.4%, apples – 3.4%.

As previously reported, Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 21.8% in 2012. Belarus’ inflation forecast for 2012 stood at 19-22%.
