OREANDA-NEWS. February 08, 2013. In January 2013, the Russian Railways’ network loaded 95.2 m tons, 6.2% less than in January 2012, reported the press-centre of RZD.

Freight turnover in January 2013 fell by 7.3% compared to January 2012 to 178.1 bn tariff ton-km. Freight turnover including empty wagon runs in January 2013 fell by 7.9% to 226.7 bn ton-km.

In January 2013, the railways shipped the following goods. Figures in brackets show the change compared to January 2012:

coal – 26.8 m tons (+0.9%);

coke – 1.03 m tons (+0.6%);

oil and oil products – 21.9 m tons (-2.8%);

iron and manganese ore – 8.5 m tons (-3.8%);

ferrous metals – 5.9 m tons (-6.2%);

ferrous metal scrap – 0.7 m tons (-8.9%);

chemical and mineral fertilisers – 3.9 m tons (-2.3%);

cement – 1.6 m tons (-10.7%);

timber – 2.6 m tons (-4.6%);

grain – 0.7 m tons (-58%);

construction materials – 9.7 m tons (-18.3%);

non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock – 1.7 m tons (-10.7%);

chemicals and soda – 2.3 m tons (-6%);

industrial raw materials and molded materials – 2.1 m tons (-18.3%).
