OREANDA-NEWS. ACI Europe released its traffic results for 2012. 172 European airport operators work results were analyzed. According to ACI Europe, Moscow Domodedovo airport became one of three European airports with high dynamic development.

Regarding the results of 2012 among European airports welcoming more than 25 million passengers per year (Group 1 of ACI Europe classification), Domodedovo took second place in the passenger traffic increase for December 2012 (compared to December 2011) and third place in yearly passenger traffic increase.

Olivier Jankovec, Director General ACI Europe, comments “After a great year in 2011, when Domodedovo’s traffic reached 25 million passengers a year, allowing the airport to become a member of ACI’s Group 1 traffic classification, Domodedovo’s dynamic development has continued throughout 2012. Its persistent growth in passenger traffic is a testament to Domodedovo’s focused strategy and efficient management of airport.”

In whole 2012 appeared to be ambiguous for Europe: while EU airports showed signs of stagnating in passenger traffic (overall passenger traffic increase for EU on yearly basis — 0,2%), non-EU airports posted a strong performance for the year (+8.8%). Overall yearly passenger traffic increase for airports of Europe in 2012 grew only to +1.8%.

Moscow Domodedovo airport passenger traffic increase for 2012 reached 9.6%, 28.2 million preferred travelling through the airport.
