OREANDA-NEWS. Regarding the results of January 2013 passenger traffic at Moscow Domodedovo airport saw an increase of +13.3% compared to the same period in 2012, that made a total of 2 million passengers. The overall number of flights in January grew by +7.7% and totaled in 19 thousand take-offs and landings in all.

In January the largest growth in the passenger traffic has been recorded in domestic airlines (DAL) adding +15.1% to January 2012, reaching 806 thousand passengers. Passenger traffic mostly increased on routes to/from Chelyabinsk, Rostov-on-Don, Mineralnye Vody, Saint Petersburg, Saratov and made a total of 165 thousand travelers that is +28.7% more than last year.

Passenger traffic in international airlines (IAL) reached 1 288 thousand passengers (+12.3% compared to previous year). The largest growth in the passenger traffic has been recorded on routes to/from Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, Kiev, Minsk, Munich. 232 thousand passengers travelled on these routes that is +54.4% more than last year.

Freight traffic at Domodedovo for January 2013 reached 11 965 ton, (+13.2%) compared to previous year.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport — is the largest one of Russia, in 2012 the airport served 28,2 million people. It joins the category of the largest airports in Europe on the classification of the Airports Council International (ACI) and on results of 2012 became one of three European airports with the highest dynamic development. Domodedovo is chosen for flights by member airlines of two largest global airline alliances – Star Alliance and oneworld.
