OREANDA-NEWS. Ural Steel announced the results of the first supervisory audit of the quality management system (QMS) implemented at the plant in line with the international standard ISO/TS 16949. Experts recommended the certification body TUV NORD CERT GmbH to extend the certification.

Dmitry Mitrofanov, Managing Director of Ural Steel, commented: “Certification of compliance with the standard is one of the most important requirements today set by the companies operating in the global automotive industry. Passing the audit will allow Ural Steel to extend the certification and confirm its status as a supplier of high quality metal products to the automotive industry.”

Specialists at TUV NORD CERT GmbH examined procedures relating to the planning, analysis, and implementation of the QMS; technology used in the production of metal products; production and shipment processes; the organisation of monitoring and testing; and the provision of sufficient personnel. The auditors concluded that Ural Steel had met all of the standard’s requirements, and noted their satisfaction with the QMS and the progress of the cost reduction programme implementation. Jiri Klobasa, lead auditor at TUV NORD CERT GmbH, highlighted the system’s strong performance at the business unit.

Ural Steel QMS specialists noted that passing the audit is not only the recognition of the compliance with the requirements, but also new experience allowing them to develop the system and increase its effectiveness.
