OREANDA-NEWS. In January 2013, throughput of Russian seaports increased by 6.2%, year-on-year, to 45.2 mln tons.

 Transshipment of dry cargo totaled 18.3 mln tons (+4.5%) including 7.5 mln tons of coal (+23.1%), 3.2 mln tons of containerized cargo (+4.5%), 0.9 mln tons of mineral fertilizers (+30.3%). Transshipment of ferrous metal fell to 2.2 mln tons (-3.2%), ore – to 0.5 mln tons (-8.2%), grain – to 0.4 mln tons (3.4 times), cargo carried by ferries – to 0.4 mln tons. Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo amounted to 26.9 mln tons (+7.4%) including 16.7 mln tons of crude oil (+5.7%) and 9.0 mln tons of oil products (-1.2%).

 In the accounting period,  Russian seaports handled 36.5 mln tons of export cargoes (+7.2%, year-on-year), 3.3 mln tons of import cargoes (+19.8%), 3.2 mln tons of transit cargo (-16.9%), 2.2 mln tons of coastal trade cargo (+15.4%).

 Operators of the Arctic Basin handled 3.7 mln tons of cargo, which is 1.5 times as much as in January 2012. Transshipment of dry cargo climbed to 1.9 mln tons (+14.5%), liquid bulk cargo – to 1.8 mln tons (up over 2-fold). Throughput of Murmansk port reached 2.3 mln tons (up 1.6 times), Vanino port – 0.5 mln tons (+25.8%), Varandei port – 0.4 mln tons (up 2.0 times) and Arkhangelsk port – to 0.4 mln tons (up 1.9 times).

 Throughput of the Baltic ports increased to 16.7 mln tons (+ 8.3%) including 5.8 mln tons of dry cargo (+9.3%), 10.9 mln tons of liquid bulk cargo (+7.8%). Throughput of Ust-Luga port climbed to 4.3 mln tons (up 1.9 times) mainly due to the launch of new liquid bulk terminals, throughput of Vysotsk port totaled 1.2 mln tons (+5.7%), Kaliningrad -  1.2 mln tons (+20.5%). At the same time, cargo handling in Primorsk port and Big Port St. Petersburg fell to 6.1 mln tons (-12.5%) and 3.9 mln tons (-3.0%) respectively.

 The ports of Azonv-and-Black Sea Basin handled 12.9 mln tons of cargo (down 3.7%, year-on-year) including 4.4 mln tons of dry cargo (-3.2%) and 8.5 mln tons of liquid bulk cargo (-4.0%). Throughput of port Novorossiysk fell to 9.1 mln tons (-4.0%), Tuapse – to 1.4 mln tons (-9.5%), Rostov – to 0.6 mln tons (-20.4%) and Yeisk – to 0.2 mln tons (-41.8%). Meanwhile, the following ports boosted their throughput: Kavkaz - 0.5 mln tons (+34.4%), Taganrog - 0.3 mln tons (+4.6%), Temryuk - 0.2 mln tons (+36.4%) and Sochi - 0.2 mln tons (up 1.5 times).

 Seaports of the Caspian Basin handled 0.7 mln tons of cargo (-23.7%) including 0.2 mln tons of dry cargo (down over 2 times) and 0.5 mln tons of liquid bulk cargo (+9.0%). Throughput of Makhachkala port fell by 4.0%, Astrakhan – by 47.1%.

 Throughput of the Far East ports boosted to 11.2 mln tons (+8.1%) including 6.1 mln tons of dry cargo (+8.1%) and 5.1 mln tons of liquid bulk cargo (+8.2%). Throughput was increased by Vostochny Port – up 27.7% to 4.1 mln tons, Vanino - 3.5% to 1.6 mln tons, Nakhodka – by 6.5% to 1.4 mln tons, Vladivostok – by 13.3% to 1.1 mln tons. Throughput of De-Castri port fell by 20.0%, Posiet – by 12.5%. Throughput of Prigorodnoye port stayed at the level of the previous year - 1.6 mln tons.

 Association of Sea Commercial Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports, forwarding and agency companies, scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions.
