OREANDA-NEWS. February 13, 2013. Europe's leading wind energy industry event is being held in Vienna, Austria, when ArcelorMittal will showcase its products and services for the industry. European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) 2013 will focus on providing wind energy players with opportunities to find real growth, particularly in emerging wind energy markets. Wind turbines are already generating more than 240 gigawatts (GW) of clean energy globally each year, reported the press-centre of ArcelorMittal.

As the world’s leading supplier of steel to the global wind energy industry, ArcelorMittal will showcase its extensive range of products and services such as quarto plate steel. Around 85% of all wind turbines are built with quarto plate steel and ArcelorMittal’s Flat Carbon Europe division is a highly respected supplier of this product. ArcelorMittal Asturias in Gijon, Spain has supplied quarto plate for more than 3000 wind towers since 2005.

As steel can be used to create more than 80% of the components required to build a wind turbine, ArcelorMittal is continuously investing in research and development of innovative steel grades for the wind energy industry.
