OREANDA-NEWS. February 13, 2013. The loan is expected to be provided by the International Development Association, a member of the WB Group, for 15 years at 1.25% p.a., a commission fee of 0.75% and with the 5-year long grace period, InfoMarket was said to in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova. The project will be launched on May, 1, 2013 and last till April, 30, 2014.

Its main goal is to reduce aftershocks of the drought of 2012 through giving support to farmers in maize and wheat sawing as well as to avert livestock reduction in regions suffered from the drought. USD9 mln. are planned to be transferred to farmers to partially compensate their loss, encourage the sowing of winter wheat and maize in 2013 and prevent the livestock reduction. Close to USD 0.35 mln. of the loan are assigned for spreading information about the project among regions the support is available for as well as for improving knowledge about forage.

Close to USD 0.65 mln. will be spent on the project’s management. The government of Moldova is expected to adopt the resolution soon on the opening of the talks for the draft loan agreement with the International Development Association to implement project Urgent Aid for Agriculture of Moldova and to approve a composition of the group of negotiators.
