OREANDA-NEWS. Japanese trading house Sumitomo Corp. and telecom company KDDI Corp. said they are unable to kick off a tender offer to buy Jupiter Telecommunications Co. as previously planned, due to a delay in approval from the Chinese antitrust authorities.

The companies were planning to launch a tender offer to buy Jupiter, Japan's largest cable television provider, by the first 10 days of February.

But the antitrust procedures in China hadn't been completed as of Friday, the two companies said in a statement.
